Dierdre Beard, M.S.

No one prepared me for the physical and mental challenges that new motherhood would bring when I had my first child almost ten years ago. In the year following that pregnancy, my health began to rapidly decline. In addition to multiple dental cavities for the first time in my adult life, I experienced crippling anxiety and extreme swings in my weight. In desperation, I started researching ways to get better, and through luck and by the grace of God, I made the discovery that nutrient depletion from pregnancy and breastfeeding was likely playing a large part in my health problems. As my health started to improve, I knew that I wanted to help other women thrive in their childbearing years. In 2020, I began studying Clinical Nutrition at Maryland University of Integrative Health. I completed a Master’s degree and passed my board exam in 2023, and I am now a Certified Nutrition Specialist candidate under supervision. My family has also grown, as we now have three children, and proper nutritional support before, during, and after pregnancy has been integral in helping me maintain optimal health. My deepest hope for this practice is to help women optimize their health and vitality by focusing on nutritional counseling tailored to their individual needs wherever they happen to be on their motherhood journey.
